Dan Tanenbaum

About the artist
Dan Tanenbaum is a Toronto-based artist who transforms vintage watch components into intricate sculptures, bridging the gap between horology and contemporary art. His journey began in 2010 when a visit to his watch supplier led him to repurpose discarded watch parts into miniature motorcycles. Over time, his portfolio expanded to include a diverse array of subjects, from encrusted rifles and designer toys to animal skulls, Star Wars memorabilia, and sneakers. Each piece showcases a harmonious blend of meticulous craftsmanship and modern artistic expression. Tanenbaum’s creations have garnered attention in publications like Ultimate Motorcycling Magazine and Motorcycle Mojo Magazine, and have been featured in exhibitions such as “Time Machine” at Mania Contemporary Gallery in March 2023. His work has also attracted high-profile collectors, including rapper Chief Keef and DJ Steve Aoki. By infusing discarded timepieces with new life, Tanenbaum invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between functionality and artistry.
