Raconteur
In Raconteur, Monk.E trades the walls of the city for the white walls of the gallery—bringing the same energy, spirit, and storytelling to canvas. Known for his work as a muralist, poet, rapper, and activist, the Montreal-based artist turned inward for this exhibition, presenting a deeply personal series inspired by his travels, his philosophies, and his inner landscape.
Executed in a blend of aerosol, oil, and mixed media, each work operates like a visual verse—rooted in spiritual introspection, cultural hybridity, and lived experience. Monk.E’s layered portraits pulse with symbolism, drawing from traditions of Taoism, Islam, Rastafari, and hip hop to form a lexicon that feels ancient and futuristic all at once.
Raconteur marked Monk.E’s first solo show with Mania Contemporary—offering not just images, but stories encoded in paint, light, and rhythm.
