In Rose Perception, The Half Decent brings his signature control of aerosol to a circular wood panel, where swirling layers of deep magenta, soft whites, and matte black blur the boundary between form and feeling. Shapes emerge and recede—suggesting faces, motion, memory—before dissolving back into pure abstraction. Created in 2024 and featured in The Chariot, his solo exhibition at Mania Contemporary, the work is a study in intuition and intensity. A meditation in motion—emotional, atmospheric, and sharply composed.
About The Artist
The Half Decent walks the line between tattoo artist, street muralist, and mythmaker. Based in Toronto, his work combines rough symbolism, stark linework, and a fascination with fractured identity—recurring figures like skulls, masks, and hybrid creatures echo across walls, canvas, and skin. With roots in graffiti and a studio practice grounded in discipline and repetition, he’s developed a style that feels both ancient and rawly contemporary. In spring 2024, Mania presented The Chariot (May 10–June 20), a solo show exploring momentum, duality, and personal mythology. The Half Decent’s art isn’t about answers—it’s about mapping the chaos with style.
