On Train (Yellow), things get strange—in all the right ways. A masked figure licks a floating sandwich while a golden snail glides by, underlined with the artis’ts name 2+2=5. Equal parts dystopia and deadpan humor, this acrylic-painted toy train captures 2+2=5?’s surrealist streak at full throttle. It’s political, nonsensical, and totally unforgettable—like a riddle you’re not supposed to solve.

About The Artist
2+2=5? (Fabian Lopez b. 1996) doesn’t ask for permission—he asks questions. Best known for his masked figure, Super Malo, and the cryptic equation “2+2=5?”, the Havana-based artist uses street walls like truth bombs, confronting repression, distortion, and state-fed narratives with a spray can and a wink. Drawing from Orwellian logic and Cuban realities, 2+2=5?’s work balances political charge with graphic clarity and dark humor. In 2024, Mania presented Beyond the Frame: Havana, his Canadian debut—pulling his message from the streets of Cuba into the gallery space without losing a drop of voltage. 2+2=5? isn’t just painting walls—he’s cracking them open.
